Bread Does a Body Good.

You want to enjoy the party, so why not have a nice slice of party cake? Cake makes people happy.
You want to start your morning on an up-note, so you pick up a couple donuts on the way to the office.
Donuts make mouths smile.

But did you know that foods like cake and donuts can actually make a person sad?
Samantha Heller, a dietician and clinical nutritionist at New York University Medical Center, says they can, and do. As it turns out, according to Ms. Heller, carrots and celery will actually make a body happier than cookies and pie.

But, on the off chance that carrots and celery are not your favorite foods, may I suggest something even better? Consider the words of Jesus on proper nutrition in John 6:51, “I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world.”

As humans, we long for lives of satisfaction and joy. But often times the things that we think will make us happy, end up making us sad. In an attempt to really experience “life”, many choose to feed on the spiritual equivalent of cake and donuts, and then wonder why they feel so miserable.

But if you want to live, and I mean really live, feast on Jesus; the healthy, nutritious, life-giving, Son of God. Now there is a food that brings satisfaction and joy.
