Don’t Spoil Your Appetite

My grandmother was always worried about me spoiling my appetite, “No, you can’t have a snack. Dinner is only an hour away.” Years of experience had taught her that, if allowed, children will fill their stomachs with junk food and lose their desire for a healthy meal.
Grandma knew: A full belly has little desire for delicious things, but an empty stomach will clean the plate.

Perhaps granny had read Proverbs 27:7, “A person who is full refuses honey, but even bitter food tastes sweet to the hungry.”

Your appetite will determine what you eat and how much you enjoy it.
A full stomach will turn away from steak and lobster.
But an empty tummy will devour a cracker and praise God for “the meal."

So, spiritually speaking, how hungry are you? Do you hunger for Jesus in your life? Are you famished for truth, righteousness and the things of the Kingdom? Be careful and listen to your "grammy," filling up on the junk food of entertainment, toys or worldly accomplishment will spoil your appetite for the healthy things of God.

So, put down that Twinkie and pick up your Bible.
