I tell my children to stop fighting.
Couples come to me for marriage counseling because they want to stop fighting.
Fighting is almost always bad. But not always.
The Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy in1 Tim 6:12 “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called”
Yes, fighting with other humans is usually a sin, but fighting the good fight of faith is an absolute must. So here is your mission (should you choose to accept it): advance and move forward, always heading in the direction of life, eternal life.
Arrows are flying all about, bombs are exploding left and right -you will occasionally lose a battle, but you must not, you will not, lose the war. Your enemy is the world system of pride, ambition and greed. Your opponent is your own self-seeking heart. Your adversary is a maniacal cosmic madman named Lucifer and he has come to kill and destroy.
So don’t just stand there. Drop to your knees and fight like a believer. Your greatest weapons are prayer, personal holiness, faithfulness and love. Fight the good fight of faith. You have been called to eternal life, that’s the goal, so don’t get side tracked and don’t ever stop swinging. We all get tired. We occasionally want to curl up and hide in a foxhole. But our cause is noble and worthy of the relentless struggle that is required to fight the good fight. So, a s the great American poet, Pat Benatar, once said, “Put up your dukes and let’s get down to it”

Nice Pat Benatar reference. Good stuff as usual. I didn't think you liked the "fighting" and "soldier, general" references and analogies?
